I am a quilt
artist and teacher living on Vancouver Island in
the Pacific Northwest. Quilting has been a very
big part of my life for over 20 years, and I
have been teaching classes since 1997. In
About Ionne, you can
learn about my quilting history (or
‘her-story”), and my textile art. Visit my
gallery for a
look at some of my work/play. (Something that is
so much fun to do should be called “play”.)
I particularly
love helping students to be more confident in
their use of colour. My colour workshops are
always popular and I have taught many different
variations of them, including classes
on basic design principles.
Please visit my
workshop page
for more information about my classes and my
teaching schedule.
This
year I am the Canadian Coordinator for the World
Quilt Competition.

Still
cold here- but signs of spring are coming- the
best part is the lambs- all 12 of them! We even
had a set of triplets born, along with one
single and four pairs of twins. And they are so
much fun to watch- I call it Lamb TV.
Hysterically funny at times! They even jump on
and off their moms while the moms are lying
down- sometimes at a run on the way by!
I finally finished my sweater- it was Fair Isle,
so now you know why it took so long! It turned
out beautifully, I am very pleased- it fits,
it’s warm and lovely. So worth doing!
The Campbell River Friendship Quilters Guild is
hosting an Island Quilting Symposium April 23rd
through 26th- if anyone is interested in a space
in the 2-day Colour workshop, please contact
them- see the Schedule on the
Workshops page
for the email address.
Some other class dates have been changed-
particularly at the Cumberland Quilt shop-
please check the
Schedule page.
The “Color for the Terrified Quilter” DVD is
still in the works- the editing stage. I’ll keep
you posted.
Check the Links page- I
have added a link to my friend Gladys Love’s
blog- please have a look, Gladys is very
artistic and has a new book coming out in April-
“Embellishing with Anything” published by C&T
Publishing. The book is all about different
fiber art techniques for your quilts and other
projects. I can’t wait to see it!!!
Another artist and friend whose link I have
added is Martha Cole- a Saskatchewan based
textile artist who works in several different
mediums.
More news: I have taken over the position
of Canadian coordinator of the World Quilt
Competition from Sharon Pederson this year. You
will find the entry form just at the bottom of
the Welcome section above.
